A pledge to improve workplace health and wellbeing, available for all workplace sizes.
To achieve this award an employer must pledge to improve well being in their organisation, conduct an employee health assessment and take forward one action for improvement.
The committed employer award can be used as a launchpad for your journey to workplace awards relevant to your size of organisation.
Small Business Awards
for organisations with 2 to 49 employees
Work your way though the awards from bronze to gold. These awards are for organisations with 2 to 49 employees. Each award has 10 criteria to meet.
Business Awards
for organisations with 50 or more employees
Work your way though the awards from bronze to gold. These awards are for organisations with 50 plus employees. Each award has 20 criteria to meet.
Wellbeing at Work Award
The Wellbeing at Work Award recognises employers’ commitment to supporting employee wellbeing through an accreditation programme. The programme is operated by Public Health at East Sussex County Council and provides a framework for improving health and wellbeing in the workplace. Once you have received an award, you will be able to say your wellbeing initiatives meet the county standard in workplace health practice, and you will be able to show this to your employees and clients/customers with our marketing materials pack.
About the Awards
East Sussex Wellbeing at Work is the county standard of good practice in health and wellbeing in the workplace. The programme takes a holistic approach to a structured framework, covering the following topics:
- Physical Activity and Active Travel
- Healthy Eating
- Musculoskeletal Health and Health & Safety
- Mental Health
- Sickness Absence, Return to Work and Prevention
- Alcohol, Substance Misuse, and Stop Smoking
- Leadership, Management and Workplace Culture
The Wellbeing at work business awards pathway:
Awards journeys are dependent on you businesses size.
Optional entry level Commitment Award.
This is a great place to start for organisations who are thinking about starting a wellbeing improvement journey for the first time. This light touch, simple to achieve award is open to employers of all sizes. To achieve commitment award, the workplace must undertake an employee health needs assessment survey and highlight one action to take forward from the results.
For businesses who want to dive straight in, or have already started making some positive changes to support wellbeing in the workplace, you may want to consider starting with the Bronze award. Bronze award is based on business size, read more below:
The Bronze award is focused on building the foundations of a healthy workplace. Bronze is a great place to start for workplaces that are keen to dive straight into improving wellbeing in their workplace, or have already started making some positive changes.
Small business bronze award: 10 criteria to complete.
Business bronze award: 20 criteria to complete.
The Silver award is available to workplaces who have achieved bronze status, and are looking to further develop wellbeing as part of their organisations ethos.
Small business silver award: 10 criteria to complete.
Business silver award: 20 criteria to complete.
The Gold award is available to workplaces who have achieved silver status, and are looking to take their wellbeing programme to new heights, embedding health and wellbeing in the organisations culture and becoming a role model for other employers.
Small business gold award: 10 criteria to complete.
Business gold award: 20 criteria to complete.
Eligibility
Organisations with more than one employee based in East Sussex (excluding Brighton and Hove) can join the Awards programme. If you are a sole trader, you can still seek wellbeing at work support by accessing our Resources or contact us.
How it works
Once you have registered, we will be in touch to book a Welcome Call to talk through how the programme works and answer any questions.
Your organisation will be asked to sign a Participation Pledge to demonstrate your commitment to the programme. We’ll also provide you with a Welcome Pack and supporting criteria handbook. These documents give a step-by-step guide on the accreditation process and implementing the criteria framework.
By registering, you’ll gain a secure login to this website. Here, you will manage your accreditation progress, upload supporting evidence towards each award and book training.
The Wellbeing at Work team offer bespoke one-to-one guidance and advice to ensure that workplaces are supported on their journey to accreditation.
